Tane, Erik, Denzil & Duke

Hey guys, this is gonna be great!  Ok so how do we take advantage of the extra prims we got?  I did send Chaz the extra monies to bring my tier up to $76.19.

I really don't know but thought if we put all the land as Group Owned.  Keep the existing property lines for music urls etc etc.  Rename all the parcels the same name which should enable the use of all the prims?  We would then just monitor the prim use to make sure were not going over my prim limits?

There are 4 parcels available with 3 of them the unrented houses and the other is the public land.

Dunno, created a blog as maybe this is much easier to stay in contact with each other and is a pernament log of notes.  You should be able to comment on the blog here and we could all have admin rights to post stuff to get feedback ideas on stuff?

  1. This blog is an excellent idea. I was thinking of setting up some Google Docs but this is much better.

I was thinking of two options (a) diving up the sim into four 128x128 parcels, but that would mean massive terraforming, moving trees around and moving houses too, or (b) creating irregular shapped parcels around our existing land so that we wouldn't have to move.

Option (a) would be the most difficult and most disruptive to everyone, while (b) means figuring out a lot of geometry.

Duke's option for Group Owned is a good idea. I really am more interested in the prims than having all the real estate. Keeping the covenant in mind, I'm not about to rez some gazebo's or anything.

    Anyhoo, food for thought. Anyone?

  2. Hi Gentlemen,

This blog IS an excellent idea. Thank you, Duke.

When I suggested the idea of all four of us remaining on Rainier Summit it was with the thought that we could easily dramatically increase each of our prims for just about $21 a month and not have to change much with the sim. Each of us could stay in our homes which just happen to conveniently be spaced out on the each of the N,S,E,W sides of the sim. We could keep the public space as is and the three remaining parcels of 1875 prims can be split up such that they no longer have any houses on them but we add some trees and minor terraforming.

The additional land for each of us could be annexed either right next to your existing property if you wish to overlap up high with a skybox or, if prims are the important factor, the land with its prims can be just owned by you no matter where it is located. When I owned Rainier Summit I had to do this once when I put in the rope bridge between parcel 4 and 5 and gave the parcels about 10 sq meters of land in the middle of the lake in exchange for the land the public bridge took up.

The key is we can have Rainier look basically the same (without the three extra houses) and with more open forested land and we each have more prims with little other change.

Since Cascadia Homebuilder is the owner on record with Linden Labs and thus Chaz makes the payment of $295 on the 5th of each month, I would suggest we have new Paypal subscriptions for the $76.19 start on Dec 1st so the monies are in the Cascadia Builders account when Linden Lab dings the account for the $295. I'll need to ask Chaz if this would be ok with him.

I would be happy to do the terraforming and Chaz has plenty of 1 prim trees we can use for landscaping. Let me know if you guys are interested in this approach.

Personally, I am not interested in the group owned sim idea at all nor dividing the sim into four parcels. The first idea could create significant squabbles about who is using how many prims and would take monitoring which is not something I really want to get into. The second idea would require major work and wipe out the lake and public land.

I am interested in little change to my wonderful view and keeping constant the same look and feel of Rainier Summit and we all adhere to the existing covenant (with our changes from the meeting a few days ago concerning house design and Duke's house appearance/color.

  3. hmm yeah the land splitting and joining unajoining parcels freaks me out as I don't really know how it works but if Erik knows how to do it then doesn't matter to me although i would like some water area for ducks/swans

  4. No worries. Rainier Summit can look basically the same it does now...probably better. I've managed properties over the years and have surgically modified parcels. I did much of the terraforming of Rainier two years ago when Serious left Cascadia and we merged Anacortes and Rainier together...so that is pretty straight forward. I will need each of your input though on the number and type of trees/plants to add on your additional forested land or you can do that on your own provided your landscaping keeps consistent with the classy Rainier woodsy look and feel and few prims are used so we can all have plenty of prims available for skyboxes.

I will work with Cascadia Homebuilder and I can annex the three parcels next to us so your additional land (and prims)are adjacent to your current home. We should leave the public land as is so the lake, deer, walkways are all untouched and we have the prims avail (as we do now)so we can add seasonal stuff if we want (fishing poles in the summer or skating gazebo in the winter for example.

Let me know if you guys are ok with this approach, which is basically a no change to the look and feel of Rainier.

  5. Tane will probably want some water area for his skinny dipping parties.

  6. Well I must say, Erik, that you have relieved a lot of my worries about this transition. I wasn't interested in moving my house or the trees or the view or any of that stuff. So, if you want to go ahead and make those renovations please fell free to do so.

The biggest thing for me is that Rainier looks the same as it does now. I think what we're going to end up with is the same look but with less houses, and I'm all for that.

Thank you Erik for taking the initiative and volunteering to make the changes.

I'll talk with Chaz about my tier, because my recurring payment is on the 15th. I agree that it should be all paid up prior to his payment to LL so that he's not out of pocket and chasing us down.

  7. As long as Duke's bedroom is within pervcam range, I'm good.

  8. Yay, looks like were in Erik's capable hands for doing the mods. I'll IM Denzil to touch base with him.

Oh, I can log in as the Cascadia Homebuilder guy if you need me to take the unrented houses out and the sidewalks etc etc. (Not sure how Chaz is sharing him.)

  9. Is there anyway to leave the house in behind me Duke
    Thanks

  10. hmm probably, Erik might need to move it a bit for how he arranges the property lines? hmm

  11. Hey Guys,
Denzil mentions above "leaving the house in behind him". I don't know what house he was referring to but I took a long look at the house on Parcel #2 and it looks like it would be a great club house we could all use for parties, put in a movie theater, etc. I alread have the movie theater seats, the screen, DVD player, and popcorn machine. HA! I could add some of the land and prims to public land and we could all share it. Doing this would cut down some on the number of extra prims for each of us but might be worth it. Let me know if this is something you guys would want to do. Go look at the house between Denzil and Tane.

  12. I think your theatre seats are all out of date, might have to buy new ones.

  13. but a club or dance place somewhere in rainier, if light on prim, might be a useful thing, even if it were just a large dock or a floating piece of styrofoam ... BECAUSE -- Rainier is now the only full sim remaining -- the other 3 sims are now homesteads (hanging off of Rainier), capable of holding max 20 people. Rainier only one left that can hold 40 people now. If we held a party at the lighthouse, and the 21st person tried to show up, too bad, so sad, can't get into sim there....

  14. ok all good points.....Erik is off to the races in getting everyone there prim...which will take some time to complete as its a monumental task...

so step 1) get everyone their prim while maintaining the look/feel of Rainier...

step 2) you all can decide what to with your land once we know how the property lines will be so step 1 can get done...we left the house in question on lot #2 which is the house I believe Denz wants to remain and is also the center point of the club house idea....

so lets let Erik complete step 1 and see where we end up at as the house in question may need to be moved depending upon how the land is split up..its a real balancing act I don't envy thanks to Erik for taking this on... :)

the cascadia homebuilder guy has these houses in his inventory so they are available just by simply rezzing them again..

  15. Hey Guys...
I will be out of town until Monday (at the NCAA Water Polo Championships in Berkeley, CA where my nephew is playing for Cal)so there is some time this weekend for all of you to check out the house located between Denzil and Tane and write in this blog what you would like me to do with it. I can:

    1) Go ahead and remove the house and divy up the prims and land amoungt us four. We can decide what we want to do later regarding a club house.

    or,

    2) Reduce the land on which the house sits to just the house footprint but add it to Public land so the prims are adequate to support the clubhouse build plus furnishings. I would then reallocate the rest of the parcel to Denzil/Tane to increase their prims.
Their land would surround the club house.

Let's hear some ideas. We can always make changes but once I divy up the land it will be very difficult to locate a spot to place a permanent structure the size of this clubhouse. I don't know how many prims the house uses but I would guess under 400 EMPTY so it would only cost each of us perhaps another 200 prims (or so) reducing our prim allocations from 3250 down to around 3000-3100 (or so).

Let me know what you think...talk to you Monday.

    Go Bears!

  16. I was hoping to be naughty and have a second home on my lot. Mainly as I like the style of house, and think it a shame to delete it.
The upside for me would be if a friend need a place to stay, they could use it.
Not sure how the land is to be divined up, there is an empty lot across from me.
If the house were moved there, the land behind me would be free for Tane to use, just an idea.
I will go with other suggestions as well.
All depends on how much work Erik is willing to do.

  17. Hi guys,

I've started working on the land allocation on Rainier and have some questions.

It appears no one is particularly interested in keeping the house on parcel #2 (betwwen Denzil and Tane) as a club house so I am going to remove it as soon as I can get it packed up so it will rez complete. Instead of the mountain range behind the house, would you guys want me to perhaps have a water channel to the sim border on the North side so it looks like the area cutting between Denzil and me? That would give Tane more of an ocean view.

The land allocation is going to take me a bit of time since it is not all that simple and I will be working on it in the mornings before I go to work in RL. When I am subdividing and joining land I have found it is a LOT easier if I drain the lake. I tried working under water and it was ugly. I only need to drain the lake to work on those parcel areas that are under water and I will always return the lake to normal (it only takes two seconds).

The tree landscaping will need to wait until the snow is gone after the holidays. I can terraform ok in the snow but landscaping with spring/summer folliage is a lot tougher and I wasn't expecting the snow yet and I hope whoever changed the terrain also kept the texture for replacing the snow after the holidays.

Please be specific when you ask for changes to the landscaping (ie..."the lot to the NW of my existing parcel") and don't just say "the lot across from me" because I will not know what you are asking. Thanks. If you wish to be with me when I terraform so you can tell me what/how you want your land modified...let me know some days and times that are mutually convenient and I will work with you.

Let me know what you think.

    ~Erik

  18. Hey Erik,

Sorry I haven't been completely with it this week, so I'm just catching up on things this morning.

I'm fine with a water channel or a mountain stream beside me on Rainier #2. Perhaps that can be worked in with the mountains behind me? We can talk more about that in-world, and play with it a bit. I have some off-sim rocks and prims that might look nice too.

I'm sure you are doing an excellent job with the subdividing. I know it's not easy to do with the houses where they are.

No worries about waiting until after the holidays for the terraforming. It is a busy time of year for everyone.

  19. Hi Erik,
Any chance of putting the house, that was behind me, somewhere on my land.
Looking to let Rex live in it for a while.
I also like the house as well, so selfish reasons as well as being nice to a mate.
As for landscaping would love to chat in-world sometime and see what works.

    Thanks
    Denzil

  20. Gentlemen,

The extra parcels have been divided up given each of us an additional 1376 prims. The land is next to your current parcel. Duke has already purchased his additional land. Tane and Denzil still need to purchase.

Denzil, I can give you the house that was on #2 and perhaps you can get some help from Cascadia Homebuilder to place it on your expanded parcel. I am not good at all as a builder and would always hire Preston to build for me. Terraforming and land dividing I can do.
